In 1985, after five years in corporate finance with the Clorox Corporation, I was at a crossroads in my life. Although I was at the top of my game in corporate America, I was certainly not feeling the satisfaction I thought might be achievable by pursuing a career in Real Estate.
So in early 1986 I made two major decisions that changed the course of destiny for the Dronkers Family. I decided to become a Realtor and after doing some research decided to move my family from Castro Valley to Pleasanton. I started working with Coldwell Banker in the Pleasanton Office and I was off and running with my new career and our new lives in Pleasanton and we have never looked back since.
Today, my sons Tim and Jeff have both graduated from the Pleasanton school system and are completely immersed in their respective career pursuits. Pleasanton was a terrific choice for a wonderful community to raise my family.
And Real Estate was an equally wonderful career choice for me. After all these years, I can still say I love what I do. I often wonder how many people get to say that. I enjoy being an active leader in the local Real Estate industry. I currently serve as Director on the Board of Directors of the BAYEAST Association of Realtors which has a membership of 5000+ Realtors. I also serve as the President of the Valley Marketing Association. This is a group of Realtor, Lender, Title and Builder representatives that meet weekly to discuss the local Real Estate Market.
The best part of my job is getting to help people. The decision to buy or sell a home ranks way up there in the spectrum of important life decisions. Being asked to assist people in this endeavor is a responsibility I take very seriously. The challenge is daunting, as every situation is different, but the satisfaction is immeasurable. Knowing that I have helped people find a home and a community where they can thrive is the greatest of rewards. - Roy
